Orcs

Orcs are… Pretty cool. And they are gradually becoming my second in command of species I pick for character.

I actually have an Orc OC I would like to take on more of. They are Yaek’veller (pronounced Yack-Vell-er).

I don’t have any assets to show of them yet, so please accept this Mii version of them from the newest Tomodachi Life game.

Put 'er there, Soulfire! How goes it?!

What makes Orcs cool

Orcs look nice in terms of fantasy creatures, and they seem to have a lot of personality. They’re big, brutish, and maybe not always the brightest. As a result, they seem very relatable, and exceptionally fun to RP as with their broken English. Which requires a little thinking of how you speak to get into, but fits around comfortably once you get used to the whole manner of Orc speak. Of course, you’ll probably annoy folks online doing that 24/7.

Brief Fursona History

One of the biggest challenges of being Yaek’veller is that it’s hard to visualize a consistent appearance for him. Maybe it’s because I haven’t drawn anything of him yet or established much of a design. But with animals, especially fantasy ones, you can design them any way you want. And it’s easy to establish.

Granted, I can never quite remember my own ear or paw patterns, but I still know they’re one of my defining elements. Mainly because it’s a lot easier to remember the multicolored details of animals than it is of other humanoids.

So where even did Soulfire come from? Well, I basically entered the furry community with (what would become) my fursona. Who began as a bit of D&D homebrew I was working on. I was upset that there was no canine equivalent of the Tabaxi species, so I made one up called the Jarexi (hence my full name, Soulfire Jarexi Backblaze)

As for my name… It’s completely arbitrary. I mashed two random words together in a way that sounded emotionally charged. Kinda like the warriorcats books (a series I never read, but have heard plenty about online).

A quick bit of trivia, I used to have markings at the side of my eyes, but I eventually decided this looked too peculiar, and far too difficult to implement in my (rather amateur) fursuit. So it ultimately evolved into the ears

At one point, I also had a red mane and yellow hair, but again, these eventually disappeared to match more inline with my fursuit.

Eventually, I found a newer avatar (that was more toony to my liking, and also Quest compatible) that eventually formed a groundwork that was more consistent.

Despite this new avatar, I never got around to updating my profile picture with it. But eventually decided to put my new iPad to the test and draw something myself. I’m not the best artist in the world, but with enough tries, I can make something that pleases me enough.

Although my online identity still doesn’t quite match up with my fursuit, it’s close enough.

Back to the Orcs

Anyway, at some point in the future. I would like to commission or draw some more of Yaek’veller.

I’m definitely not abandoning being a wolf anytime soon. But I might alternate some of my accounts between the two in the future as time feels appropriate.

What Makes My Orc

Yaek’veller has green eyes, a silver nose ring, no hair, but a small amount of stubble. They would probably be seen wearing… Anything really. Whatever is appropriate for the theme or genre.

I really don’t have that much defined for the Orc at the moment. I just want the world to know about it. I will almost certainly release an update post once more details about him.
